what does echo $PATH return for you?

(Deivigan87) #3

It gave some info on JAVA Home Path & Maven Path.

(Deivigan87) #4

I used /usr/bin/ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/uninstall)"
and then tried installing using /usr/bin/ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)" and it has been installed successfully

Good to see it’s fixed!

Hello
I have been trying to install HomeBrew and mungodb for the last few days on both of my MaBook Pro 10.13.6
I have not been able to get a instillation on any MacBook that I have.
I have tried every solution I could find but nothing has worked and it has proved impossible to install HomeBrew on any mac I have .
I have tried installing this on my new MacBook 10.13.6 it failed as it has with all the others.

Checking out files: 100% (2068/2068), done.

HEAD is now at 70c5b6f80 Merge pull request #5560 from GauthamGoli/cat-args

Error: /usr/local/Cellar is not writable. You should change the

ownership and permissions of /usr/local/Cellar back to your

user account:

sudo chown -R $(whoami) /usr/local/Cellar

Failed during: /usr/local/bin/brew update --force

I do not understand why this is not working or why it is trying to install to urs/local/cellar and not usr/local/bin.
I have tried to fix this on my other mac to no avail so i tried to start a gain on my new MacBook Pro but i have exactly the same problem, and it has proved impossible to fix on my old MacBook Pro 10.13.5.

Please can someone help me as I really need this working I have so much work to do but I am unable to install the tools in need to do the job.

Any help would be amazing
Thank you

(Sean Molenaar) #11

This is the command you need to run to fix it. Homebrew installs itself and other formula to /usr/local/cellar to keep all the install files together and creates links to bin later for files that need to be there.

Hello- I keep getting a " Can’t download the software because of a network problem" when I paste the installation command on the terminal.

I think this is a os version specific issue (10.13.6) , I have posted it on apple communities as well. Would greatly appreciate any help in resolving this as I have ton of work that’s stuck!

(Sean Molenaar) #13

I suspect it’s an apple problem. Does it also happen if you run xcode-select --install?

(Rishisb) #14

Yes its definitely an Apple proble, hoping someone here would’ve encountered it. same result with xcode-select --install.

Is there another manual way of installing home brew on my machine?

(Sean Molenaar) #15

Unfortunately all ways require commandline tools

(Rishisb) #16

I just checked and I seem to have some of the folders like Cellar, site-functions, etc, brew, man1 installed but not the actual files - they all show 0 items inside them. Any thoughts?

(Rishisb) #17

Solved, woohoo! Downloaded homebrew.

Here are the steps

First, updated the OS, then:

  1. uninstalled current version of xcode
  2. installed xcode 10.2 beta
  3. installed command lines tool for 10.14 macOS https://developer.apple.com/download/more/
  4. ran home brew installation from terminal again.

It comes down to looking for the versions of xcode and os command line tools that exist from the link above and then matching the xcode version the OS version on your machine.
