Problem with the glocate command and wildcards

(Yann Meur) #1

Hi,

I want to locate a file named mulet.rtf with the glocate command:

glocate -r mulet*

and here is an extract of what I get:

/System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/2.3/usr/lib/ruby/2.3.0/universal-darwin18/enc/emacs_mule.bundle
/Users/yannmeurisse/Desktop/mulet.rtf
/Attachments/5918/7/Formules ATA ASTM.pdf
/usr/share/emacs/22.1/lisp/international/mule-cmds.el.gz
/usr/share/emacs/22.1/lisp/international/mule-cmds.elc

The last character of the file name in the command seems not to be taken into account.
Does anyone have any idea of what’s wrong?
Thanks in advance.

While this is not a homebrew issue, you’re specifying a regex that matches mule followed by a t that can occur zero or more times.

Thank you so much for your answer.
I’m very sorry, I was confusing regex and wildcard used in Unix filenaming convention.
Thanks again.
