I am trying to understand if an advantage of homebrew is the ability to easily and more importantly completely remove an application if necessary. As an example I am considering installing mysql php and apache on my Mac. I have done this in the past with a fair amount of difficulty-therefore having the ability to “start over” would be nice. Is this a feature of Homebrew? As an corollary might one be able to install/reinstall MAMP to its original state without affecting anything else on my Mac?

For those, you might also consider MAMP, which appears as an app and is also easily un-installable.
