New php formula apparently requires the background service to be run as root?

(Matt Sandwich) #1

From brew info php:

To have launchd start php now and restart at startup:
    sudo brew services start php

Running without sudo causes errors in the system.log:

Mar 8 09:57:45 iMatt php-fpm[25682]: no path for address 0x11a1bd000

Running with sudo breaks brew cleanup.

So am I missing something, or was I doing it wrong before by not running the service as root?

I think this must have been an oversight and it shouldn’t be necessary to run it as root since the default port is not privileged. I’ve submitted a PR to correct this - thanks for the feedback!
