Mariadb datadir change at user level - requires elegant solution

(Karthik) #1

Hi there, I’ve got MariaDB installed via homebrew and noticed that the datadir is set in homebrew.mxcl.mariadb.plist and any other directory I specify in ~/.my.cnf is not getting picked up.

Can you tell me how I can circumvent this elegantly?

Cheers,
Karthik

you could edit the plist file (and file an issue to start a discussion on the usability of overwriting config in the plist file)

That’s what I’ve done. This means each time the homebrew update happens, I have to keep an eye on the plist file which is really annoying. If instead the ~/.my.conf could be used to pick up DATADIR as intended, it would be way more elegant. Is there a way I can propose this as a feature request?

You can check the git log to see if there’s a specific reason this is done. And if there isn’t, make a pull request changing it.
