I can't install Homebrew using sudo or my administrator account

(Colten DeYoung) #1

Hey all,
I am trying to install Homebrew using the following terminal command:
/usr/bin/ruby -e “$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)”

However, upon entering that command, it indicates that I must be an Administrator. My account is an administrator account.

Here is the link to show you.

I then proceed to try it via sudo, and it tells me that I should not run that command as root.

I’m stumped… I am running macOS High Sierra 10.13.1

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: It seems that I have remedied the issue. I simply created a script on my desktop with all of the contents from the remote Ruby script and replaced the “#{ENV[“USER”]}” with “Colten DeYoung” (my username). It seems to have worked well.
