Brew installation stalls on High Sierra

Hi all,

I recently tried to install Brew on my laptop (yes, I still use High Sierra), but it stalls right after the installation starts. In many cases re-installing Brew is suggested as common solution, but when I do this:
usr/bin/ruby -e “$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)”

I get the following:

==> This script will install:
/usr/local/bin/brew
/usr/local/share/doc/homebrew
/usr/local/share/man/man1/brew.1
/usr/local/share/zsh/site-functions/_brew
/usr/local/etc/bash_completion.d/brew
/usr/local/Homebrew

Press RETURN to continue or any other key to abort

It stalls here and nothing happens. Any suggestions ?

Thanks in advance.

Did you try the steps described here: Need help with homebrew install ?

@SMillerDev,

Yeah, I saw this post, but there is no brew file in /usr/local/bin directory, so:

ls /usr/local/bin/brew
-bash: cd: /usr/local/bin/brew: No such file or directory

Then I thought it didn’t even start the installation.

Did you press the RETURN key?

Yep, nothing happens.

Do you have antivirus? (that turned out to be the problem in the other post)
If not, what does ls -al /usr/local show?
