Brew install fails on OSX

(Davesky) #1

Hi all. I have a MacBook, OSX 10.12.6, and am trying to install homebrew so I can then install mongoDB and then install a local Parse server (whew)

Trouble is, using the default ruby command from brew.sh:

/usr/bin/ruby -e “$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)”

I continue to get the following error:

Error downloading Command Line Tools (macOS Sierra version 10.12) for Xcode: The request timed out.

This occurs when I am on a fast or slow internet connection.

Does anyone have a workaround I can use?
Thanks!

What happens when you manually install those?

Hi and thanks for the reply. I haven’t been able to find a manual install page for the xcode command line tools.

I tried grabbing the command from ruby as it was running, but got syntax errors.

Also, is the ruby command smart enuf to bypass the failure part if the tools are already installed?

tanx!

This was one of the first search results for me: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/9329243/xcode-install-command-line-tools
AMD it shouldn’t install the tools again if you already have them.
