Brew Can't Find autoconf

I am trying to install the formula “autoconf” . However, when I run brew install autoconf , the terminal says:

Updating Homebrew...
Error: No available formula with the name "autoconf"
==> Searching for a previously deleted formula (in the last month)...
Error: No previously deleted formula found.
==> Searching for similarly named formulae...
Error: No similarly named formulae found.

Error: No formulae found in taps.

However, the formula can be found in the link below:

How do I install autoconf using homebrew?
I’m running macOS Mojave (10.14.4).

What if you run brew update-reset? (This will reset brew to the git upstream)

I just tried that. This is what the console outputted.

What happens when you run git -C $(brew --repo homebrew/core) remote show origin?

@SMillerDev Here it is.

AaronsMacBookAir:~ Aaron$ git -C $(brew --repo homebrew/core) remote show origin
* remote origin
  Fetch URL: https://github.com/Homebrew/brew
  Push  URL: https://github.com/Homebrew/brew
  HEAD branch: master
  Remote branch:
    master tracked
  Local branch configured for 'git pull':
    master merges with remote master
  Local ref configured for 'git push':
    master pushes to master (up to date)

I just decided to just chicken out of getting homebrew to do it, and used the old way of "./configure make "etc. instead.
I hope brew can find it to install a project.

Everything worked when I reinstalled homebrew…

Yes, it seems like your homebrew checkout pointed to the wrong git repo. A reinstall will fix it.
